Lutheran Child and Family Services
Lutheran Child and Family Services of Illinois (LCFS) was founded in 1873 as the Lutheran Orphan Home in Addison. It is the Vision of LCFS, as a Lutheran Social Ministry Organization, to be a means for people of faith to carry out God’s will for His people, to show mercy, to do justice and love our neighbor. Today LCFS is an agency offering a wide range of services to children and families, including individual, marital and family counseling.
Imagine if everyone were able to get the help they need so that they would have the capacity to fully develop their God given gifts. That is what LCFS is all about. The organization improves the wellbeing of people across the state by protecting children, strengthening families and building futures for those who have experienced trauma. The organization serves all faiths, races, orientations and ethnic backgrounds.
Counseling is available at several sites throughout Illinois. While responding in accordance with the Christian faith, LCFS counselors are clinically trained and credentialed with graduate
degrees in counseling, psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, and pastoral counseling. Their staff brings a wealth of experience to the agency and they continue to enhance their skills through ongoing supervision, consultation and in-service training programs.
LCFS also offers pre-marital counseling using the Prepare/Enrich assessment. Support groups and topical workshops are offered on occasion throughout the year.
