Life Advocacy Team

The purpose of the Life Team is to come alongside the church leadership and assist in the task of bringing life issues before the congregation, providing education and resources for the development of Christ-like views of life issues, and to be a source of awareness when it comes to community and congregational needs in the life area.

The Life Advocacy Team at Cross seeks to fulfill this purpose by walking with Jesus and those in need, even into the difficult situations in life. We choose to grow in our faith by sharing in His Word and prayer, and loving our neighbors as ourselves. By recognizing how Jesus has also developed us often through our struggles, in turn, we too can help meet the needs of those struggling with life issues—be it within our group, among our congregation, or in the surrounding community.

We work with multiple organizations in the area for various services such as diaper collections, baby bottle spare change collections, supporting maternity homes for single mothers, and more! We also have a “God’s Garden for the Little Ones” memorial site at Cross for families who have experienced miscarriage, abortion, still birth or newborn death. If any of these areas are on your heart too, please feel free to contact us to learn more.

When: Sundays once a month, 8:00 – 9:00 am (Check with Leader for schedule)
Where: Cross Parlor
Leader: Laura Laesch, laeschfamily@gmail.com

Baptism Class

One lord, one faith, one baptism. Ephesians 4:5

Baptism – Is it …
• A covenant?
• A symbol?
• God forgiving our Sins, giving us His Holy Spirit, and making us part of His family?
• Something we do for God to show him we believe and that we are committed to Him?

“So what is Baptism?”
“Baptism in not just plain water, but it is the water included in God’s command and combined with God’s word”
-Martin Luther

Ok, that didn’t help much, what does this water and God’s Word do?

“It works forgiveness of sins, rescues from death and devil, and gives eternal salvation to all who believe this.” – Martin Luther

Well, that’s what Luther said, and Luther is a good source, but let’s go to the Bible to and find out what God’s word says.

“Why do we baptize?”
First – Christ said to do it and when Jesus says to do something, YOU DO IT!

“Where does He say to do it?”
“Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20

According to Matthew 28. what are we called to do as Christians?
• Make disciples by sharing the Gospel with them.
• Baptize them in the name of the Triune God.
• Teach them when Jesus commanded and taught us.

Do you have some of the questions listed above, or other questions about Baptism? Come to our Baptism Class, where you can learn more about the gift of life God gives through the miracle of Baptism in a relaxed, welcoming setting. You can come if you are expecting a baby, are new parents with a little one you are ready to get Baptized, or if you are curious about being baptized as an adult. All ages are welcome!

Lutheran Early Response Team (LERT)

What does a LERT volunteer do?

When a disaster occurs, certified LERT volunteers receive a deployment alert. They respond to indicate their availability then wait for instructions. Depending on the nature and scope of the event, they may be called on to distribute resources, feed people, salvage possessions, muck out houses, provide transportation, clean up debris, assist at emergency shelters, and other types of care. Specially trained chainsaw volunteers may be called in. However, the most important function of a LERT volunteer is their presence and listening roles.
Consider how God has prepared you to serve as a LERT volunteer.
